Korea Papa John's Challenges Chicken Market... Launches 'Mama Chicken'
Korea Papa John’s has thrown down the gauntlet in the chicken franchise market.

Korea Papa John’s announced on the 24th that it has officially launched its own chicken franchise, ‘Mama Chicken,’ and opened its flagship store (Mapo branch) in Yonggang-dong, Mapo-gu.
Mama Chicken features fried chicken and chicken wings, which originated in the United States, as its main offerings. Customers can choose from a variety of base sauces and dipping sauces according to their preferences, allowing for a diverse and personalized experience.
Mama Chicken’s Cajun-style chicken is offered in two flavors: Mild and Spicy. Customers can select from 10 original authentic American sauces or 3 Korean-style sauces, including spicy seasoning and garlic soy sauce, based on their taste. All menu items use 100% domestically sourced chicken.
The store interior boasts a modern design with an exotic concept, enhancing convenience by utilizing kiosks and iPads for table orders.
Korea Papa John’s plans to open its second directly managed store within this year, starting with the opening ceremony of the Mama Chicken flagship store on the 21st, and will expand its franchise business in earnest from next year, aiming to grow to about 1,000 stores nationwide by 2035.
The Mama Chicken flagship store operates as a casual pub restaurant concept offering both dine-in service and takeout. The second store is expected to specialize in delivery and takeout. Future stores will also be operated under these two concepts.
