Seongdong-gu 'Seoul Forest Summer Camping Site' Operation
Heal from the heat and rainy season fatigue this summer at Seongdong Seoul Forest Camping Site
Providing a healing and cultural space in nature through camping site use and programs for visitors
Reservations open on a first-come, first-served basis at the ‘Seoul Public Service Reservation’ website... August reservations start from July 31
Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) will operate the Seoul Forest Summer Camping Site until August 26 in preparation for the upcoming vacation season.
The camping site has a total of 21 spots located in the grassy rest area of Seoul Forest Park and is conveniently accessible by public transportation, just a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Seoul Forest Station on the Bundang Line subway. Reservations are accepted every Friday and Saturday, and the site can be used from 2 PM on the day of reservation until 11 AM the next day.
Residents who wish to use the site can apply through the ‘Seoul Public Service Reservation’ website, and the fee is 10,000 KRW per night. Reservations for July are currently being accepted, and reservations for August will open from July 31.
Those who reserve must prepare their own individual tents that fit the pavilion size (3m wide × 3m long). Camping equipment such as tents and tables can be rented at the Seongdong Sharing Center. To establish a safe and healthy camping culture, cooking and drinking alcohol are prohibited within the camping site.
Seongdong-gu also operates its own program called ‘Summer Forest Outing with Family’ for visitors. A forest interpreter explains various stories about the trees hidden in Seoul Forest, and participants can enjoy a forest trail walk along with various ecological experience activities such as cicada urine play and hanging spider webs. Those who wish to participate in the program can apply on the day of camping site use.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I hope the Seoul Forest Camping Site becomes a space where residents exhausted from the rainy season and heatwave can heal in nature,” and added, “We hope you come with your families and have a happy vacation in the city.”
