Gwangju Nam-gu, Facility Improvements at 9 Local Children's Centers
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 10th that it will promote a facility improvement project by October to provide a pleasant care environment for children using local children's centers in the district.
The local children's center facility improvement project aims to provide high-quality care services to the children using these centers. Nam-gu is implementing a plan to improve the internal facilities and care environment of local children's centers according to an annual schedule.
Currently, there are 47 local children's centers operating within Nam-gu. Last year, facility improvement funds were provided to nine local children's centers, replacing floor vinyl sheets, renovating restrooms, and replacing built-in cabinets, among other improvements.
In accordance with the Youth Protection Act, Nam-gu prioritizes support for facilities relocating from commercial areas densely populated with harmful businesses to child-friendly environments such as public facilities, detached and multi-family housing, facilities transitioning to non-profit corporations to create child-friendly areas, and those that have reinforced or are in the process of reinforcing fire safety performance.
This year's environmental improvement target facilities include nine centers: Kkumjaran Local Children's Center, Nam-gu Open Local Children's Center, Daechon Local Children's Center, Songha Local Children's Center, Yangnim Local Children's Center, Wolsan Local Children's Center, Jihyeui Darakbang Local Children's Center, Hanbit Local Children's Center, and Hyocheon Haenuri Local Children's Center.
Nam-gu plans to invest 60 million KRW to replace internal finishing materials for fire prevention and improve aging facilities such as wallpaper and flooring.

A Nam-gu official stated, "We will accelerate the facility improvement project so that children using local children's centers can live in a safer and more pleasant environment."
