View original imageThis exhibition invites Pohang-born artists and those connected to the region who have recently gained attention: Kim Joeun, Lee Wonki, and WOOZI.P (Wooji). Under the theme "Connection of Life," various contemporary art works including paintings, installations, and collages will be showcased at the newly established Culture and Arts Factory this year.
Kim Joeun's installation work "Pinocchio" reflects the image of the artist's mother as seen in the past and the image of the artist as seen by her daughter in the present. This participatory piece is completed only when viewers face the work, demonstrating that people are not different beings but connections between generations.
Lee Wonki will present "White Sea," a work inspired by the sudden absence of his mother during his childhood. The "White Sea" shown by the artist is not an adult's sea but a landscape of a time to which one wishes to return, allowing visitors to feel the night sea of Pohang in the exhibition space.
In particular, through the citizen participation project "Walk," WOOZI.P (Wooji) created artworks together with 20 children from Pohang. The children's works, completed through workshops held twice on July 8 and 15, can be seen alongside the artist's pieces.
A representative of the Pohang Cultural Foundation stated, "We hope that through this exhibition, the Culture and Arts Factory will be recognized as a cultural hub space where artists and citizens are connected and share culture," and added, "We look forward to the active interest and participation of Pohang citizens."
