'Master Pianist from Hungary' Andras Schiff Visits Korea
'The pianist's pianist,' Andr?s Schiff (70), will visit Korea after one year.
According to Mast Media on the 18th, Andr?s Schiff will hold a piano recital at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall on October 3rd. On October 4th, he will perform in Busan (Busan Cultural Center), and on the 6th, in Gyeonggi (Gyeonggi Arts Center).
Hungarian-born pianist Andr?s Schiff is regarded as one of the world's greatest pianists. He has received numerous awards including the International Mozarteum Foundation Gold Medal (2012), the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (2012), and the Royal Philharmonic Society Gold Medal (2013). In 2014, he was knighted in the United Kingdom.
He began playing the piano at the age of five and studied under Pal Kadosa, Gy?rgy Kurt?g, and Ferenc Rados at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, and later with George Malcolm in London. In the 1970s, he gained recognition in the classical music world by winning prestigious competitions such as the Tchaikovsky International Competition and the Leeds International Piano Competition.
