Promoting the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid, Mutual Cooperation Utilizing Overseas Economic Networks
On the 18th at 10:30 AM, Busan City will sign a “Memorandum of Understanding for the Attraction and Successful Hosting of the 2030 World Expo in Busan” with the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA) at the International Protocol Room of City Hall.
At the signing ceremony, Mayor Park Hyung-jun and World-OKTA Chairman Jang Young-sik will personally attend and sign the agreement. Also present will be Cho Yoo-jang, Head of Busan City’s 2030 Expo Promotion Headquarters, and Ahn Kyung-ryul, Advisor to World-OKTA, along with other officials from both organizations.
This agreement was arranged to support the overseas economic network of World-OKTA, which consists of about 7,000 overseas Korean businesspeople across 143 chapters in 68 countries, and to contribute to an “all-out effort” for attracting and successfully hosting the 2030 World Expo in Busan.
In particular, as the city and government are currently focusing on final overseas promotion and negotiations to gain support from member countries of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) ahead of the final host city selection in November this year, this agreement is expected to be of great help.
Once this agreement is signed, the two organizations will mutually cooperate in ▲carrying out and supporting promotional activities for attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo ▲engaging in and supporting private economic envoy activities utilizing overseas economic networks ▲exchanging various information and discovering and promoting joint cooperation projects domestically and internationally.
Through this, the organic cooperation system between the two organizations will be strengthened, enabling detailed responses in overseas promotion and negotiations, as well as private economic envoy activities for attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo.
In addition to attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo, it is also expected to have effects such as enhancing Busan’s city brand and contributing to local companies’ entry into overseas markets.
