"Perfect Weather"... Controversy Over Psy's Review After Completing 'Heumbok Show' Amidst Heavy Rain Damage Chaos
"Considered inappropriate expression given heavy rain situation" pointed out
"Should water parks close when it rains?" counterargument also raised
Amid severe nationwide heavy rain damage, singer Psy sparked controversy after leaving a review saying "the weather was perfect" following his 'Hmphbok Show' concert.
On the 16th, Psy posted a thank-you message along with the phrase, "It was Psy, the singer of Korea, in Yeosu where everything was perfect?the audience, staff, guests, and the weather" after the summer concert 'Hmphbok Show' held the previous day at Jinnam Sports Complex in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do.
Some criticized the expression "the weather was perfect" as inappropriate amid the ongoing casualties caused by heavy rain. Comments included, "Saying the weather was perfect during a nationwide disaster is too much," and "We understand the joy, but the expression should be restrained."
The appropriateness of holding a concert with 30,000 attendees under a heavy rain warning was also questioned. At the time, the government and local authorities were continuously sending disaster safety alerts due to the heavy rain, increasing residents' anxiety.
In particular, at 9 p.m. during the Hmphbok Show, a heavy rain advisory was in effect, with rain repeatedly starting and stopping. Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, referred to the ongoing concentrated heavy rain for three days, saying that night would be "the biggest hurdle."
Perhaps due to this controversy, the post has since been deleted and is no longer accessible.
"If the venue had thorough safety measures, what does it matter... Should water parks close when it rains?"

Responses included, "You can't suddenly cancel a long-scheduled event because of weather," and "Should all water parks nationwide suspend operations during heavy rain damage?"
However, around 11 p.m. that night, some audience members leaving the venue collided with vehicle entry prevention poles near the exit. One attendee reportedly suffered a 3cm laceration on the left knee and received 7-8 stitches at an emergency room in a general hospital in Yeosu.
The attendee explained the accident, saying, "Without safety personnel present, as people were exiting toward the dark exit area, they exclaimed 'Ah' and moved aside, but I felt something touch my leg."
