Goodbye 016... 010 Automatic Connection Service Termination
The 2G subscriber transition program by mobile carriers has ended, and the '010 number forwarding service' has also been discontinued. It has become increasingly rare to find 01X numbers in South Korea.
KT announced that it will terminate the 010 number forwarding service as of the 31st of this month. Starting next month, calls made to 016 numbers will no longer be connected.
The 010 number forwarding service was a service that connected calls or texts made to existing 2G mobile phone identification numbers such as 011, 016, 017, 018, and 019 to the new 010 number when users switched to 010. The government issued the new mobile phone identification number 010 in 2004, and mobile carriers provided this service accordingly.
