According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake took place about 106 km south of Sand Point, Alaska.
The epicenter was located at 54.384°N latitude and 160.699°W longitude, with a focal depth of 9.3 km.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) issued a warning, stating that a dangerous tsunami could occur nearby.
