Police Launch Investigation into Landlord of Sangdo-dong Villa Suspected of Jeonse Fraud
The police have launched an investigation into a landlord who owns multiple units in a villa in Sangdo-dong and has failed to return security deposits to tenants.
According to the police on the 14th, the Dongjak Police Station is currently investigating landlord Mr. A, who owns a villa located in Sangdo-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, on charges of fraud.
Mr. A is accused of receiving security deposits from tenants and failing to return them.
The villa owned by Mr. A is known to have 78 units, and it is reported that about 30 units have been auctioned off due to his inability to repay loans borrowed from financial institutions.
When a senior creditor, such as a financial company, exercises a senior secured claim through an auction, there is a high possibility that junior creditors, such as tenants, will not be able to recover their jeonse deposits.
