Power Outage Affects Over 4,000 Households in Seoul Due to Heavy Rain
Most Restorations Completed
Heavy rain warnings have been issued across Seoul and the central region, and overnight, power outages affected over 4,000 households in two districts of Seoul.
According to the heavy rain response report released by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government as of 6 a.m. on the 14th, at 12:01 a.m. that day, a street tree near Ansan in Hongje-dong, Seodaemun-gu, fell and cut a high-voltage power line, causing power supply to be interrupted to more than 2,000 nearby households.
Power has been restored to about 2,000 apartment households. However, villas and other buildings in the area remain without power, and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) is working on restoration. The fallen street tree has been removed.
Earlier, at around 2:10 p.m. the previous day, a tree toppled by rain and wind in Dobong-gu, Seoul, fell onto a utility pole, causing a power outage affecting 2,123 households, but restoration has been completed.
So far, nationwide casualties confirmed include one missing person and one injured person.

On the previous day, as heavy rain warnings expanded mainly in the central region, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety raised the crisis alert level from 'Caution' to the highest level, 'Severe,' at 8:30 p.m., and upgraded the CDSCH from level 2 to level 3.
