Amazon Prime Day Sells 370 Million Items Over Two Days... Record High
Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, recorded its highest-ever sales performance during this year's two-day 'Prime Day' discount event.
According to CNN on the 13th (local time), Amazon announced that more than 375 million products were sold during the Prime Day event held on the 11th and 12th for subscribers of its paid membership service, Prime. This is a significant increase from last year's 300 million. Although Amazon did not disclose detailed sales figures, it stated that the first day, the 11th, recorded the highest single-day sales in the company's history.
Adobe Analytics estimated that U.S. consumers spent $12.7 billion online during the two days of Amazon Prime Day this year, a 6.1% increase compared to the previous year. However, this falls short of Adobe's earlier forecast of $13.1 billion in online sales.
By category, electronics and toys led online sales. Sales of clothing and electronic devices also surged. Vivek Pandya, senior analyst at Adobe Digital Insights, said, "Prime Day offers major discounts from various retailers, making it one of the biggest e-commerce events of the year," adding, "The record-breaking spending so far shows that consumers are tapping into their inner discount hunters."
