Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education: "Learn Gender Equality Culture Through Musicals"
Aiming to Foster Proper Sexual Values Among School Members... Conducted 6 Sessions in Total
The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Seo Geoseok) announced on the 13th that it will operate the '2023 Gender Equality Culture Experiential Program' to promote healthy gender sensitivity among school members and raise awareness of practicing gender equality.
According to the Office of Education, to cultivate proper gender values among school members, since May, they have prepared a student participation and experiential musical performance program in collaboration with a professional performance organization and have guided schools at all levels to apply for participation in the musical program.
Accordingly, a total of six gender sensitivity education musical performances will be held in July and October, centered around three hub areas: Jeonju, Gunsan, and Iksan.
The student participation and experiential musical performances are composed of content suitable for each developmental stage of elementary and secondary students, and during the performances, actors and the audience interact directly to enhance educational effectiveness.
The first performance will be held on the 14th at the Science Hall of the Jeonbuk Office of Education Science Education Center, targeting about 150 students from four schools that applied from Iksan, Wanju, and Buan.
The performance is titled "Metaverse Chaos - Dalkong in Wonderland," which explains gender-discriminatory situations that students may encounter in daily life and conveys the seriousness of digital sex crimes occurring on platforms like KakaoTalk and SNS at a level understandable to students.

Lee Seogi, Director of the Culture, Arts, Physical Education, and Health Division, said, "To create a gender-equal school culture, it is necessary for the educational community to have proper gender values and the will to practice gender equality in daily life," adding, "Through this experiential program, we will work to prevent sexual violence in schools such as digital sexual violence and school Me Too cases, and furthermore, strive to establish an equal school culture."
