LG HelloVision and NIA Join Hands to Foster a Safe Digital Usage Culture
LG HelloVision announced on the 13th that it will conduct a public service advertisement campaign on local channels in collaboration with the National Information Society Agency (NIA) to foster a healthy and safe digital usage culture among local children and adolescents.
Recently, as the amount of provocative and violent content and unverified information has increased, proper use of smart devices by children has become more important. In particular, children from vulnerable groups in regions with high exposure to smart devices require more education to prevent digital dysfunction.
Accordingly, LG HelloVision signed a business agreement with NIA at LG HelloVision headquarters in Sangam-dong, Seoul, on the same day to take the lead in creating a healthy and safe digital usage culture. Both parties will mutually cooperate on ▲joint campaigns ▲content development and dissemination ▲digital infrastructure establishment for child welfare facilities ▲support for prevention and resolution of digital dysfunction.
First, a public service advertisement campaign will be conducted through LG HelloVision’s local channels. Campaign advertisements containing public messages such as ‘Take a Break from Your Smartphone’ will be broadcast, and NIA’s specialized institution for preventing and resolving smartphone overdependence, the ‘Smart Break Center,’ will be introduced. Additionally, heads of Smart Break Centers from various regions will be invited to issue talk discussion programs to focus on analyzing the digital usage culture of children and adolescents.
Next, ‘Smartphone Overdependence Prevention Content’ produced by NIA will be installed on Hello TV’s ‘U+ Kids Land.’ Children will be able to freely watch 30 digital dysfunction prevention educational contents in the form of video on demand (VOD). Various contents produced by NIA this year will continue to be added.
Furthermore, educational TVs will be provided to seven child welfare facilities in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. The plan is to build an environment for use so that children from vulnerable groups are not excluded from digital education and to prevent smartphone overdependence and cyberbullying.
Hwang Jong-seong, President of the National Information Society Agency, said, “Through this agreement, government policies will be delivered more familiarly and conveniently to the public, including parents and adolescents, through private channels,” and added, “We will strive to establish a safe and healthy digital usage environment and culture in our society.”
