Minnochoong General Strike Rally, Over 5,000 Gather in Gyeongnam
As the nationwide simultaneous general strike rally of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) took place, a rally was also held in Gyeongnam.
The KCTU Gyeongnam Headquarters held a general strike rally and street march on the road in front of the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office on the 12th.
They demanded ▲an end to union suppression ▲revision of Articles 2 and 3 of the Labor Union Act ▲halt to the ocean dumping of Japanese nuclear-contaminated water ▲guarantee of living wages and increase of minimum wage ▲expansion of public healthcare and public care ▲strengthening of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, and called for the current administration to step down.
A nationwide simultaneous general strike rally organized by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions is taking place in Changwon, Gyeongnam.

At the site, members of the Metalworkers' Union, Construction Equipment Union, Hyundai Motor and Daewoo Shipbuilding unions attended, with the organizers estimating about 5,000 participants.
About 500 police officers from six units were in charge of vehicle control and site management for safety.

Cho Hyung-rae, head of the Gyeongnam Headquarters, said, “Our workers have taken the lead from the base of the democracy movement that transformed Korean society,” adding, “We will surely create a true democratic nation where labor is respected and laborers are the owners.”
