15 Glocal Universities Pre-Designated... One Objection Dismissed
The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea finalized and announced the preliminary designation results for the 2023 Glocal University on the 12th.
During the objection period following the preliminary designation announcement on the 20th of last month, one university filed an objection. The National Research Foundation of Korea held an Objection Review Committee (General Review Committee) composed of external experts and others, and decided to dismiss the objection.

Accordingly, the universities preliminarily selected are confirmed as 15 institutions: ▲ Kangwon National University and Gangneung-Wonju National University ▲ Gyeongsang National University ▲ Pusan National University and Pusan National University of Education ▲ Suncheon National University ▲ Soonchunhyang University ▲ Andong National University and Gyeongbuk Provincial College ▲ Yonsei University Mirae Campus (branch) ▲ Ulsan University ▲ Inje University ▲ Chonnam National University ▲ Chonbuk National University ▲ Chungbuk National University and Korea National University of Transportation ▲ Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) ▲ Handong Global University ▲ Hallym University. When considering universities that applied jointly separately, there are 19 universities in total.
The preliminarily designated universities must prepare and submit an implementation plan by October 6, in collaboration with university members, local governments, and regional industries. The Ministry of Education plans to actively support the universities by providing joint training sessions (early August) and expert consulting (mid-September) upon request to assist in preparing the implementation plans.

The final evaluation for the Glocal University designation will be conducted by a separate evaluation committee from the preliminary designation, and the results will be announced at the end of October.
