President Yoon Suk-yeol held a summit meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on the 11th (local time) and pledged to strengthen cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and defense industry. The two leaders also agreed to actively participate in the international community's efforts to end the war in Ukraine and restore peace.
On the morning of the same day, President Yoon met with Prime Minister Støre in Vilnius, Lithuania, to discuss plans for the development of bilateral relations containing these matters. The Korea-Norway summit was the first among the more than ten scheduled meetings with heads of state during this tour.

At the meeting, President Yoon said, "Norway is a long-standing ally that dispatched a medical support team during the Korean War, and on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War armistice, I once again express gratitude for the dedication of the Norwegian medical support team." He added, "I hope that the two countries, which share universal values, will expand cooperation in various fields including renewable energy and defense."
In response, Prime Minister Støre said, "I hope the two countries will actively cooperate in offshore wind power, hydrogen energy, and carbon capture technology, and I also hope to continuously seek ways to enhance cooperation in the defense sector, where Korea has competitiveness."
President Yoon also emphasized the need for a united international response to North Korea's advancing nuclear and missile threats. Prime Minister Støre, drawing on his experience as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (2021?22) and chair of the North Korea sanctions committee, stated that he would closely cooperate with Korea, which is beginning a new term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, to fulfill responsibilities to the international community.

The two leaders also pledged efforts to end the war in Ukraine and restore peace. They agreed to continue cooperation on various international issues, including Arctic research and infectious disease response. Additionally, President Yoon requested the Norwegian government's support for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid, which will serve as a solution platform for humanity's pressing challenges.
