National Library for Children and Young Adults Announces 'Handwritten Korean Letters to Characters in Books' Contest Until August
The National Library for Children and Young Adults, in co-hosting with the National Hangeul Museum, will hold the 9th "Hangeul Handwritten Letter to a Character in a Book" contest from July 5 to August 18.
This year, 130 libraries nationwide will participate. Children who wish to participate can apply at their local participating library. Through judging, 27 outstanding works will be awarded, including the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, the Director of the National Library for Children and Young Adults Award, and the Director of the National Hangeul Museum Award. The award ceremony will be held at the National Hangeul Museum on Hangeul Day (October 9). The winning works will be exhibited on a traveling basis at libraries that wish to host them.
Park Ju-ok, Director of the National Library for Children and Young Adults, stated, “Through this handwritten letter contest involving libraries nationwide, children will become closer to libraries and it will be an opportunity to widely promote the excellence and value of Hangeul.”
