Board of Audit and Inspection Begins Audit on Excessive Floor Area Ratio Provision for Officetels in Seoul Autonomous Districts
It has been revealed that a district in Seoul excessively increased the floor area ratio for officetels within its jurisdiction during the tenure of the former district mayor, leading to an audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection.
A senior official from the district stated, “During the former district mayor’s term, the district granted building permits by unreasonably increasing the floor area ratio for new officetels near the station area within the district on the condition of installing an art gallery inside the building, which has become an issue and is now under audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection.”
It is known that the district mayor instructed to allow an excessive floor area ratio for the officetel that applied for a building permit near the station area on the condition of installing an art gallery in the building’s basement. At that time, the deputy mayor and the responsible department head opposed this, and the district council also postponed the officetel construction plan, but the district mayor reportedly replaced the responsible staff and approved the building permit.
