Seoul Metropolitan Council to Hold Special Committee Hearing for Seoul Water Reuse Facility Corporation Chairman Candidate on the 14th

A confirmation hearing for the candidate for chairman of the Seoul Water Reuse Facility Corporation, an institution under the Seoul Metropolitan Government, will be held on the 14th at 10 a.m. in the meeting room of the Seoul Metropolitan Council’s Urban Safety and Construction Committee.
The Special Committee for the Confirmation Hearing of the Seoul Water Reuse Facility Corporation Chairman was formed on the 5th, holding its first meeting and appointing Kim Yong-ho (People Power Party, Yongsan 1) as chairman, with Kim Hyung-jae (People Power Party, Gangnam 2) and Park Chil-sung (Democratic Party, Guro 4) as vice-chairmen.
This special committee consists of 15 members and plans to hold the confirmation hearing for the chairman candidate of the Seoul Water Reuse Facility Corporation, Kwon Wan-taek, former Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Water Circulation Safety Bureau, on the 14th at 10 a.m. in the Urban Safety and Construction Committee meeting room.
Candidate Kwon Wan-taek graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Seoul and entered the Seoul Metropolitan Government through the Grade 7 public service exam. He has held key positions such as Director of the Water Circulation Safety Bureau and is recognized as a public official with outstanding expertise and conviction.
In particular, his exceptional leadership in managing organizations has led to his evaluation as the right person to lead the corporation.
Chairman Kim Yong-ho of the special committee stated that through the confirmation hearing, they will thoroughly examine the candidate’s convictions, management philosophy, and whether he possesses sufficient qualifications to perform the role of chairman. He also emphasized that the hearing will transparently and objectively verify the candidate’s plans regarding current policy issues and challenges of the water reuse centers operated by Seoul, as well as the corporation’s operational efficiency, organizational management, labor-management consultations, and communication with citizens, promising a thorough verification hearing.
The Seoul Metropolitan Council’s confirmation hearings are conducted based on an agreement between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Agreement on Conducting Confirmation Hearings between Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Metropolitan Council, April 14, 2017) and a related memorandum of understanding (MOU on Confirmation Hearing Task Force for Appointment Candidates of Heads of Local Public Enterprises under Seoul Metropolitan Government, April 14, 2017) to recruit outstanding talents with management capabilities and qualifications.
The hearing is held to verify management capabilities on behalf of citizens and to ensure fairness and transparency in the appointment process for heads of institutions under the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The council must submit a report on the hearing results to the mayor within 10 days from the date the mayor requests the confirmation hearing, and the hearing is conducted within one day.
The members of this special confirmation committee include Chairman Kim Yong-ho (Yongsan 1), Vice-Chairmen Kim Hyung-jae (Gangnam 2) and Park Chil-sung (Guro 4), and members Kim Gil-young (Gangnam 6), Kim Won-jung (Seongbuk 2), Kim Chun-gon (Gangseo 4), Park Sung-yeon (Gwangjin 2), Park Chun-sun (Gangdong 3), Lee Sang-wook (Proportional Representation), Jang Tae-yong (Gangdong 4), Choi Yoo-hee (Yongsan 2), Park Seung-jin (Jungnang 3), Park Yoo-jin (Eunpyeong 3), Jeong Jun-ho (Eunpyeong 4), and Han Shin (Seongbuk 1).

Meanwhile, if candidate Kwon passes the hearing and is appointed by Mayor Oh Se-hoon, he will become the second chairman following former chairman Park Sang-don.
