MSD-Korea Health Industry Development Institute, Hosts 'Research Day'
Research Day, co-hosted by Korea MSD, the Korean branch of MSD (Merck & Co., USA), and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, and organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, will be held on the 8th of next month.
Research Day was established to foster the domestic pharmaceutical industry's research and development (R&D) ecosystem and support mutual growth. At this event, MSD will introduce its global collaboration strategy and key research areas for new drug development, and through individual partnering meetings with capable domestic bio and pharmaceutical companies, there will be opportunities to strengthen networks and exchange information.
The first presentation session, starting at 9:30 AM on the 8th of next month, will be held in the Members' Meeting Room on the second basement floor of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul. The second partnering session, conducted separately by MSD with five companies, will take place at the Health Industry Innovation Startup Center of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute in Jung-gu.
In the first presentation session, David Weinstock, Vice President of R&D in the Oncology Division at MSD, and Koji Yashiro, Head of Business Development and Licensing for the Pacific region and Korea-Japan area, will share MSD’s global R&D partnership strategy, key research areas, and major considerations under the theme "Innovation in Cancer Treatment through Strategic Partnerships." Following this, Nam Gi-yeon, CEO of Qurient, will present "Clinical Collaboration Cases with MSD," and Seo Gwi-hyun, Vice President and Head of R&D Center at Hanmi Pharmaceutical, will present "R&D-based Licensing Collaboration Cases with MSD." Lastly, Kim Yeol-hong, Chief R&D Officer at Yuhan Corporation, will share insights on "R&D Partnership Models Expected by the Domestic Pharmaceutical and Bio Industry."
Companies and stakeholders wishing to participate in the event can apply through the Korea Health Industry Development Institute’s Notice Board under Announcements. Pre-registration for the first session is open until the 28th of this month, and applications for the second partnering session are accepted until the 18th.

Lee Hee-seung, Executive Director of External Cooperation at Korea MSD, stated, "Global partnerships are a very important MSD strategy to accelerate the development of innovative new drugs needed by patients," adding, "It is meaningful that this event provides an opportunity to exchange information with Korea’s excellent bio companies and seek mutual growth."
