Gumi University Donates 50 Million KRW to Hometown Love Donation Fund
Regional University No.1, President and Faculty Convey Gumi Love Sentiments
On the 7th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk Province received a hometown love donation of 50 million won collected bit by bit by President Lee Seung-hwan and the faculty and staff of Gumi University, marking the first time a local university has made such a contribution.
Gumi University, an innovation-driven university growing together with the region, participated last year in the campaign to support local products by purchasing about 100 million won worth of Ilseon Jeongpum rice, setting an example. The university also joined the city's population increase policy by awarding scholarships totaling 140 million won to students who registered their residence in the city, with about 460 students having registered so far, playing a leading role in the region's mutual development.
President Lee Seung-hwan said, “As a university located in Gumi, it is natural to participate in the hometown love donation system,” adding, “We will strive to actively cooperate with the city in various fields to contribute to creating a synergy effect for regional development.”
