Jeju Coast Guard Conducts Marine Pollution Accident Response and Prevention Training
Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byung-yong) announced on the 5th that it conducted inspection, education, and training of pollution control equipment at Jeju Port's exclusive pier to enhance pollution control capabilities in response to typhoon invasions and adverse weather conditions at marine pollution accident sites.

This education and training, which involved a coastal pollution control technology specialist company, focused on improving expertise and response capabilities regarding the operation and efficient inspection management of pollution control equipment, including safety rules during pollution control work, operational practice for emergency deployment of equipment in case of accidents, and sharing major causes and management methods of equipment failures.
The content of this pollution control equipment operation education and training included ▲ a visit by an engineer from the oil recovery equipment manufacturer (Desmi) to explain equipment inspection, major causes of equipment failures, and management methods ▲ operational practice of oil recovery equipment and oil transfer pumps ▲ operation methods for emergency deployment of pollution control equipment ▲ safety rules during pollution control work.
▲ In particular, training was also conducted to improve initial response capabilities to marine pollution accidents by sharing various oil transfer measures implemented to prevent marine pollution during the fishing vessel grounding accident that occurred on May 22 at Biyangdo.
A Jeju Maritime Police official stated, “We will do our best to gradually raise the level of pollution control response and strengthen our capabilities to respond to marine pollution accidents through continuous inspection and operational education and training of pollution control equipment.”
