Changwon Special City All Water Purification Plants Obtain ISO 22000 International Certification
Safe Tap Water Supply with International Certification
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 5th that it has completed obtaining ISO 22000 certification for all processes of the Chilsuh Water Purification Plant's tap water production facilities, following the Daesan, Bukmyeon, and Seokdong Water Purification Plants, which acquired the certification in April. With this, safe tap water meeting international certification standards will be supplied to all households within Changwon Special City.
ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management System), established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is an international standard that systematically manages and prevents hazards throughout all stages of food manufacturing, processing, distribution, preservation, and sales. The Chilsuh Water Purification Plant, the largest tap water supplier in Changwon Special City, has been pursuing certification for the entire tap water production process since January and completed approval through an audit on June 26.
By implementing this system at the water purification plant, it is expected to create significant synergy effects such as ▲ hygienic and safe tap water production through food-level management of tap water ▲ supply of high-quality tap water meeting international standards ▲ increased citizen satisfaction and trust in tap water through promotional effects.
Meanwhile, at the Chilsuh Water Purification Plant, no larvae were found in any process during the joint hygiene management inspection conducted by the Ministry of Environment on May 17. The plant plans to complete the activated carbon filter residual chlorine backwash facility by July and install a small organism inflow prevention facility for the water reservoir by November.
