Heineken Launches Eco-Friendly Green Packaging Project
Switching All Products to Eco Packaging by 2025
Heineken announced on the 5th that it will implement a ‘Green Packaging Project’ for products sold by 2025.
Heineken International, which announced its Evergreen strategy in 2020, plans to reduce carbon emissions across the entire value chain by 30% by 2030 compared to 2018, producing raw materials, brewing, packaging, and transporting in an eco-friendly way under the slogan “Brew A Better World.”
To achieve this, changes are being initiated first in 10 countries (including Mexico, Nigeria, and Vietnam) that account for more than 60% of total production among over 190 countries worldwide where Heineken is brewed and sold. By last year, they had achieved an 18% reduction in carbon emissions during production and brewing processes.
Heineken Korea aims to shorten the timeline and make the packaging of products delivered to consumers eco-friendly by 2025, ahead of the headquarters’ goal. The Heineken 0.0 sold online already uses delivery boxes made from FSC-certified materials, and this year, FSC-certified materials will be applied and expanded to the packaging of all products launched.
