Former Korean Federation of Trade Unions Senior Vice Chairman Suspected of Receiving Over 100 Million Won in Bribes Sent to Prosecution
Kang, the former Senior Vice Chairman of the Korean Federation of Trade Unions (KFTU), suspected of receiving bribes amounting to hundreds of millions of won, has been handed over to the prosecution.
According to the police on the 4th, the Violent Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent Kang to the prosecution without detention on charges of embezzlement and bribery.
Kang is suspected of receiving 100 million won last September from Choi and another person, members of the National Construction Industry Union Federation, who requested to be enrolled in the KFTU dp. The police believe that Kang attempted to deliver 50 million won of this amount to Lee, the former Secretary General of the KFTU, and have also applied charges of attempted embezzlement and bribery.
The police had applied for Kang’s arrest warrant on the 12th of last month, but it was dismissed. After conducting an additional investigation on the 27th of last month and considering Kang’s remorse, the police sent him to the prosecution without detention.
