Fortytwo Dot Starts SDV, Acquires Domestic Vehicle Control System Company
42dot, the global software center of Hyundai Motor Group, has acquired a domestic vehicle management system (FMS) company. The plan is to introduce a comprehensive fleet management solution utilizing driver data through FMS technology.
On the 3rd, 42dot announced the acquisition of Ubifirst Daewon, a domestic FMS company. Ubifirst Daewon has been leading the FMS market based on its self-developed telematics devices and market-specific specialized solutions for logistics, rental cars, and bus transportation. This acquisition is the first official move following 42dot's attraction of an additional investment worth over 1 trillion KRW from Hyundai Motor Group.
FMS is a system that monitors and manages vehicle location, status, and driving habits in real time through dedicated terminals installed in vehicles. 42dot plans to launch new services by combining its full-stack capabilities (operating systems and software overall) with Ubifirst Daewon's customer network and operational know-how.
By adopting FMS, vehicles can be monitored in real time to take immediate action if abnormalities occur. In case of an accident, emergency alert and response services are available, along with additional solutions for rental, transportation, taxis, and commuter buses. Various services such as consumable management and fuel/charging management can also be integrated.
42dot will develop mobility solutions linked with various interfaces based on the large-scale vehicle data of Ubifirst Daewon. Ubifirst Daewon will take on field-centered roles such as FMS operation, customer acquisition and management, and after-sales service.
