Im Seong-gi Researcher Award, 3rd Call for Nominees
The Im Seong-gi Researcher Award, the most prestigious prize in the field of new drug development established to honor the late Im Seong-gi, founder of the Hanmi Group, is now accepting candidates for its 3rd award.

View original imageThe Im Seong-gi Foundation, established to continue the philosophy and legacy of the late Chairman Im Seong-gi, announced on the 30th that it is accepting nominations for the ‘3rd Im Seong-gi Researcher Award’ recognizing innovative achievements in biotechnology and medical science. The nomination period will run for two months from July 1 to August 31, during which one recipient of the ‘Im Seong-gi Grand Research Award’ with a prize of 300 million KRW and two recipients of the ‘Im Seong-gi Young Researcher Award’ with prizes of 50 million KRW each will be selected.
Eligibility for the Im Seong-gi Researcher Award requires candidates to be Korean or of Korean descent (including those residing overseas) whose accomplishments in biotechnology and medical science are highly regarded and have practical applications beneficial to new drug development.
The awarded papers must primarily be research conducted in Korea and published in professional academic journals within the last five years as of the application deadline (three years for the Young Researcher Award). Applicants for the Young Researcher Award must be under 45 years old (born in 1979 or later as of this year).
Nominations can be made by directors of the Im Seong-gi Foundation, heads of domestic and international professional societies, associations, research institutions, and universities related to the award fields, or individuals with expertise in the relevant areas.
Applicants must submit one recommendation letter, one career and achievement statement, one copy of the main paper, and up to five copies of related papers via email to the Im Seong-gi Foundation Secretariat. However, papers that have received or are currently under consideration for awards of similar scale on the same topic domestically or internationally are excluded.
Winners will be finalized through the review of the Im Seong-gi Researcher Award judging committee and approval by the foundation’s board of directors. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in March next year, with the date and venue to be announced later.
