Naju-si Hosts 'TechBiz Partnering'... Promoting Technology Exchange 활성화
Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 30th that it held the ‘2023 TechBiz Partnering’ event at the Energy New Technology Research Institute on the 27th.
The event, attended by about 100 people including Jeollanam-do, Naju City, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and around 70 companies from the Gangso Special Zone, was promoted by the Jeollanam-do Naju Gangso Development Special Zone Promotion Group to accelerate the commercialization of new energy industry technologies.

‘TechBiz Partnering’ was planned to introduce excellent renewable energy technologies owned by regional public institutions such as KEPCO and Korea Energy Engineering University, and to promote technology exchange between demand and supply parties.
Additionally, through a multifaceted corporate support program linked with projects of related local technology commercialization institutions and investment attraction consultations, it aims to support follow-up commercialization of companies and enhance their competitiveness.
The event proceeded in the order of KEPCO’s announcement of major changes related to technology transfer in 2023, ‘Introduction of Public Excellent Technologies,’ ‘Innovation Institution Corporate Support Projects,’ and ‘Honam Region Operation Fund and Investment Attraction Strategy Presentation.’
At booths from 12 institutions, various support project consultation booths were operated to activate technology exchange and improve corporate competitiveness, receiving favorable responses.
KEPCO’s Technology Planning Department presented on technology transfer and major changes in 2023, the Korea Technology Finance Corporation’s special listing system for technology, and cases of energy companies’ stock listing promotion.
The presentation topics (presenters) introduced excellent technologies from four public institutions: ‘Inverter and Inverter Control Method’ (Kang Sung-hyun, Senior Researcher at KEPCO), ‘Customized Battery Design and BMS Algorithm’ (Song Joo-hyun, Professor at Korea Energy Engineering University), ‘ESS Including Zinc-Bromine Battery’ (Park Hyung-hoon, Ph.D. at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology), and ‘Wireless Power Transmission and Reception Device and Design Method’ (Kim Dong-hee, Professor at Chonnam National University).
Following this, corporate support projects from KEPCO, Jeonnam Technopark, and KENTECH, as well as investment and commercialization strategies from Angel Investment Hub and Corporate Development Institute were introduced.
Kim Tae-gyun, Head of KEPCO’s Technology Innovation Headquarters, said, “We will develop Naju into an energy-centered research and development specialized complex through joint R&D with companies, customized support for corporate capabilities, focused nurturing of promising companies, and corporate development projects in cooperation with other Gangso Special Zones.” He added, “I hope this event became an opportunity for companies in the Jeollanam-do Naju Gangso Special Zone to leap forward as star companies.”
The Jeollanam-do Naju Gangso Special Zone Promotion Group plans to focus on strengthening ties among regional innovation institutions for region-led innovative growth centered on the Gangso Special Zone, spreading commercialization of public technologies, establishing a virtuous cycle system for regional development, and achieving technology commercialization performance of local companies.
