On the 28th, the National Tax Service conducted tax investigations without prior notice targeting well-known large academies in Seoul such as Megastudy, Sidae Injae, Jongno Academy, and Uway. Although these academies have undergone regular tax audits, this investigation attracted attention because it was conducted unexpectedly.
The tax investigation, centered on large academies, has extended to famous instructors reportedly earning hundreds of billions of won annually. The National Tax Service is known to be investigating allegations that some star instructors underreported income from textbook fees or special lecture fees to pay less tax.
