Customized Loan Services by Theme and Age Group to Improve Resident Satisfaction
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced the launch of a mobile book loan service called ‘Book Travel’ targeting various cultural and educational facilities, administrative agencies, and companies used by residents to provide reading convenience in daily life and realize library services that coexist with the local community.
The ‘Book Travel’ project is a long-term book loan service by Yangcheon-gu Public Library, meaning “books embark on a long journey beyond library boundaries,” and was newly established this year to improve library accessibility.
As a result, from information-vulnerable groups who have difficulty visiting libraries due to mobility issues to busy office workers, anyone can now read books from Yangcheon-gu Public Library near their home or workplace without visiting the library.
Currently, the institutions using this service include six locations: ▲Sinwol Cultural and Sports Center ▲Mokdong Cultural and Sports Center ▲Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Center Yangcheon-gu Branch 1 and Branch 3 ▲Mokdong Youth Center ▲Sinwol Youth Cultural Center.
Additionally, companies wishing to provide employees with a resting space with books can also apply. After application, considering the possibility of book loss and damage due to long-term loans, the purpose of book use and the installation of bookshelves will be thoroughly reviewed before finalizing the target locations.
The long-term loan books are organized in bundles of 100 books each, covering various themes such as humanities, science, arts, culture, and history. Notably, customized book usage services tailored to the main users of each applying institution are provided to enhance resident satisfaction and efficiency.
Applications are accepted for a minimum of two bundles (200 books), and the loan period is one year. For convenience, annual extensions are possible, and book exchanges can be made upon extension.
Since its launch, the Book Travel service has loaned 1,500 books to six institutions, receiving great response from residents.
