Korea Customs Service "Complete Overhaul of National Customs Network... Target Completion by 2025"
The Korea Customs Service is undertaking a complete overhaul of the National Customs Integrated Information Network (hereinafter referred to as the National Customs Network).
On the 28th, the Korea Customs Service announced that it held a kickoff meeting for the "Electronic Customs Clearance System Full Replacement and Transition Project" with the Samsung SDS consortium (Samsung SDS, KCNet, Serim TSG, Innogrid).

View original imageAt the meeting, Samsung SDS presented the key success factors of large-scale projects analyzed mainly through next-generation business cases and announced a phased key promotion strategy for the successful execution of this project.
Earlier, both parties signed a contract for project implementation on the 18th of last month.
The project aims to modernize the aging National Customs Network's servers, storage, security and communication equipment, software, and other IT infrastructure introduced in 2015, to enhance work processing and fault response capabilities, and to establish the foundation necessary for transitioning to a cloud system.
The total project cost is expected to be 93.1 billion KRW, with a target completion date of May 2025.
Yoon Tae-sik, Commissioner of the Korea Customs Service, stated, "The National Customs Network is a critical national infrastructure that serves as the heart of domestic trade and import-export logistics," adding, "The Customs Service will do its utmost to ensure the project is completed smoothly so that customs clearance and logistics services can be provided without disruption."

Meanwhile, the National Customs Network is an electronic customs clearance system that continuously handles all import-export customs clearance operations in the country, including 27 million annual import-export cases and 88 million electronic commerce goods clearances, serving as a core infrastructure for trade logistics.
