The National Assembly Innovation 4.0 Research Forum announced the successful conclusion of the second discussion session of the summer seminar, held under the theme of digital technology innovation and changes in the cultural and artistic creation and distribution environment.
According to the National Assembly Innovation 4.0 Research Forum on the 28th, the discussion session held the previous day was attended by Innovation 4.0 Research Forum members including Representative Lee Jong-bae, who serves as the chief representative, Research Director Kim Seung-soo, as well as Representatives Song Seok-jun, Choi Hyung-doo, Yang Geum-hee, Lee In-seon, and Heo Eun-ah. In addition, professionals from the cultural and artistic industries also participated.
The theme of this discussion session was digital technology innovation and changes in the cultural and artistic creation and distribution environment. The forum stated that they listened to the voices from the field of the cultural and artistic industries, such as webtoons and games, which have changed due to advancements in digital technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), and sought policy response measures.

View original imageThe first presenter, Kim Do-gyun, team leader of the Deep Learning Division at Krafton, gave a presentation titled "Advancements in Generative AI Technology and Its Application in Game Production." Team Leader Kim demonstrated the development of generative AI technology and its practical applications in the game production process, emphasizing the need for appropriate guidelines and reasonable regulations to foster AI technology advancement.
Park Seok-hwan, director of Jaedam Media, presented on the topic "Changes and Prospects in Content Distribution Environment in the AI Era." The discussion also included participation from Yoon Yang-soo, Director of the Cultural Industry Policy Division at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Song Jin, Director of the Content Industry Policy Research Center at the Korea Creative Content Agency.
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, conveyed in a written congratulatory message, "As the era where AI is recognized as a co-creator is anticipated, the People Power Party will also do its utmost to support the innovative cultural industry and the development of K-content."
Representative Lee Jong-bae (co-representative) stated, "South Korea's cultural content industry stands at a critical crossroads due to rapidly changing environmental factors such as the transition to endemic, convergence of technology and business, and expansion of artistic value," adding, "It is time for the cultural industry to swiftly expand platforms and make comprehensive efforts to diversify genres."
Representative Kim Seung-soo (research director) said, "For our country to continue leading the cultural content market, it is necessary to establish international standards applicable throughout all processes including production, creation, and distribution," and added, "I will encourage industry professionals to form consultative bodies and find consensus, and through legislative activities, I will work together to ensure no sector is left behind in this process."
