Gwangju Seo-gu Council Democratic Party "Assemblyman Kim Oksu Spreading Fake News on SNS"
Democratic Party councilors of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City expressed regret regarding Councilor Kim Oksu sharing an article containing incorrect facts while preparing a resolution titled 'Urging the Fulfillment of the Promise to Accept Residents' Opinions on Improving the Water Quality of Pungam Lake' on SNS.
All Democratic Party councilors recently issued a press release stating, "We politely requested Councilor Kim to 'revise and co-propose and lead the resolution,' but without any response to that request, an article falsely claiming 'this resolution was not submitted because Democratic Party councilors did not agree' was distributed on SNS and other platforms."
They also said, "Last October, all Seo-gu councilors proposed the 'Resolution to Preserve the Original Form of Pungam Lake and Oppose Landfill,' in February this year, residents signed a petition together opposing landfill to preserve the original form, and during the meeting with Mayor Kang Gijeong, there was a promise to '100% accept residents' opinions.' These efforts by Democratic Party councilors were also belittled."
They continued, "We deeply regret the inappropriate remarks implying embarrassment and bitterness about residents being unable to express their opinions to a mayor who ignores the unanimous opposition of residents to landfill."
Furthermore, they stated, "We strongly urge honesty to Seo-gu residents about the fact that Democratic Party councilors proposed revising the wording to jointly announce the resolution and strongly request that the issue of improving the water quality of Pungam Lake not be politically exploited."
