On the 26th, Kim Nam-il, Vice Mayor of Pohang City, visited Heungbu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation in Heunghae-eup, which was finally selected for the 'Agricultural Great Transition Field Special Zone Creation' project, securing a total project cost of 2 billion KRW and currently promoting the project. He held a meeting with the young corporate representative and other board members.

View original imageAt this meeting, Vice Mayor Kim Nam-il listened to the aspirations for the future of rural areas from Hwang Jong-wook, the young representative of Heungbu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, and other attendees, saying, “To grow agriculture into a competitive industry, we must read the trends of the times and prepare in advance,” and added, “I hope that young people will take the lead in challenging the new agricultural environment and lead the future of Pohang agriculture.”
The 'Field Special Zone Creation' project aims to scale up a community-centered double-cropping cultivation system to over 100 hectares and integrate economic activities to foster communities with efficient competitiveness.
Selected as a field special zone in the food sector through the Gyeongbuk Provincial Agricultural Technology Institute’s public contest, Heungbu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, especially with young farmers in their 20s and 30s working together, cultivates double crops such as rice, barley, and forage crops year-round on an area of 100 hectares. Starting this year, they are also cultivating 15 hectares of paddy soybeans to improve food self-sufficiency.
