Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam, Supports Bid for 2030 Busan World Expo
The Gyeongnam delegation, led by Governor Park Wan-su, supported the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo at the 172nd General Assembly of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) held in Paris, France.
According to Gyeongnam Province on the 22nd, the 172nd General Assembly was conducted with a schedule including presentations by candidate cities for the selection of the host country for the 2030 World Expo and an official reception.

Governor Park was the only metropolitan government head to attend the official reception alongside Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, the candidate city.
Gu Ja-cheon, Chairman of the Gyeongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council, also attended as a representative of the Gyeongnam business community to support the Busan World Expo bid.
Governor Park introduced Busan's competitiveness in hosting international events to delegations and diplomatic representatives from BIE member countries such as South Sudan and Germany, and conveyed Gyeongnam Province's strong commitment to actively support the successful hosting of the Busan World Expo.

He stated, “Gyeongnam is the industrial capital that has led South Korea’s economic growth and the local government closest to Busan. We will provide multifaceted support, including assistance for exhibition facilities within the province and the formation of volunteer groups, to ensure the successful hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo.”

The candidate sites for the 2030 World Expo were narrowed down to three at the assembly: Busan, South Korea; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Rome, Italy, with Odesa, Ukraine being excluded.
