Namwon-si Conducts 'Middle-aged Fansumer Activities' to Revitalize Resident Population
Namwon City in Jeollabuk-do has decided that a group of about 20 middle-aged and older experts participating in the "Namwon-Seoul Middle-aged Fan Consumer Training Project," as part of the initiative to revitalize the living population, will create cases of win-win cooperation through sharing resources and talents with Namwon's social economy and local companies via an empathy tour exchange.
According to the city on the 23rd, the term fan consumer is a combination of fan and consumer, selected as a consumer trend in 2020, referring to a consumer group that has affection for a specific field and actively uses related products and services.

The "Middle-aged Fan Consumer Training Project" is a living population specialization project where middle-aged human resources from Seoul meet social economy enterprises in the Namwon area to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy and culture. It won the Encouragement Award at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Population Decline Response Best Practice Competition last year.
Seoul's "Encore Bravono Social Cooperative," which supports career transitions in the latter half of life, the platform company "Pathfinder," which connects the new middle-aged generation and local areas through living experience programs, and the "Namwon Community Support Center" collaborated on this project.
About 20 social economy enterprises, local companies, and youth businesses from Namwon City participated in the recently conducted empathy tour.
The selected middle-aged fan consumer group for this tour included various experienced professionals such as power bloggers and YouTubers, social enterprise managers, branding experts, social economy consultants, and photography and video specialists.
Throughout this year, the middle-aged fan consumers will provide professional consulting to Namwon's social economy and local companies, concretize the results through a second empathy tour in the second half of the year, and explore a vision for regional coexistence through a "Living Population Forum" along with Goryeong-gun and Inje-gun, which are also conducting living population projects.
One participant in this tour said, "Through fan consumer activities, I communicated with local residents and felt that Namwon City has excellent human resources as well as natural scenery," adding, "With the hope that by combining the strength of each individual we can change the world, I look forward to the day when the living population and even the resident population increase as people travel between Seoul and the region."
