A man in his 70s who 'also used a Japanese sword' during a parking dispute... victim eventually dies
Gyeonggi Gwangju Police Station Books Mr. A on Murder Charges
A man in his 70s who killed a neighbor by wielding a weapon during a dispute over parking was arrested by the police.
On the 22nd, the Gwangju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced plans to request an arrest warrant for Mr. A on charges of murder.
Mr. A is accused of bringing a long sword known as a "Nihonto" and swinging it at his neighbor Mr. B, who is in his 50s, during a dispute over parking in the villa parking lot on Haengjeongtaun-ro in Gwangju City around 7 a.m. that day.
Mr. B was struck on his right wrist by the sword and fell into cardiac arrest due to excessive bleeding. He was airlifted by a doctor helicopter to Ajou University Hospital but ultimately passed away at 3:17 p.m. that day.
Mr. A’s Nihonto measures 101 cm in total length and was reported to have been legally permitted for possession since 2015.
