5-night 7-day schedule... Discussions on ROK-US relations with US political figures
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, will officially visit the United States with party members starting from the 10th of next month.
According to the People Power Party on the 22nd, Leader Kim will visit the United States for five nights and seven days along with Lee Cheol-gyu, Secretary General; Kim Seok-ki, lawmaker and ruling party whip of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee as well as chairman of the party’s Overseas Koreans Committee; chief spokespersons Yoo Sang-beom and Kang Min-guk; Gu Ja-geun, chief secretary to the party leader; and Lee Jae-young, chairman of the party’s International Committee.
They plan to visit Washington DC, New York, and Los Angeles (LA). They will discuss Korea-US relations with American political figures and establish overseas Korean policies through meetings with overseas Koreans.

This is the first official visit to the US by a ruling party leader in eight years since Kim Moo-sung, former leader of the Saenuri Party.
Leader Kim’s visit draws attention as it comes shortly after the recent so-called "betting remarks" by Xing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to Korea, criticizing government policies, and following a controversy over Democratic Party lawmakers visiting China. Five lawmakers from the Democratic Party’s Livelihood Economic Crisis Countermeasures Committee visited China from the 12th to the 15th, and subsequently seven lawmakers visited China from the 15th to the 18th for cultural exchange, which sparked criticism from the ruling party.
