Announces Last Year's K-Fashion Order Volume
Demand for Korean fashion brands has noticeably increased in the Southeast Asian and Taiwan markets.
E-commerce platform Shopee Korea announced on the 22nd that K-fashion orders last year increased tenfold compared to 2019, when Korean sellers first entered the Southeast Asian and Taiwan markets.
By market, Singapore and Taiwan accounted for 80% of K-fashion sales. In particular, Singapore showed high demand for various fashion items including accessories, bags, and shoes, as well as clothing. Additionally, K-fashion growth rates on Shopee Thailand and Vietnam last year increased more than 10 times and 5 times respectively compared to 2021.
There are also Korean sellers who have built local brand awareness and are performing strongly. Stand Oil entered Shopee Thailand in February this year and achieved an eightfold increase in order volume within three months by boosting brand recognition. The casual brand 'Covernat' saw its sales increase by an average of 86% annually after joining Shopee.
Market research firm Statista cited the reasons overseas consumers prefer K-fashion as △ possession of diverse product categories and styles such as bags, clothing, and shoes △ high-quality products at reasonable prices △ advertisements featuring Hallyu stars.

Yuna Kwon, head of Shopee Korea, stated, "Although demand for K-fashion is high in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, there is a lack of brands and items available in offline markets. If domestic fashion brands effectively utilize local branding and marketing strategies, these markets are definitely worth targeting."
