Yeosu City to Host the 2nd Seomseom Yeosu Oksusu Festival

Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it will hold the "2nd Seomseom Yeosu Corn Festival" in front of Najin Mulryangjang at Hwayang-myeon Office from the 24th to the 25th.

Hosted by Yeosu City and organized by the Seomseom Yeosu Corn Festival Promotion Committee, this event is held under the slogan "In the clean area Yeosu! Let's embrace health with clean agricultural products!" Various events featuring "Seomseom Yeosu Corn," which is being developed as Yeosu City's representative agricultural specialty brand, will be prepared.

The event will begin with an opening ceremony at 10:30 AM on the 24th, followed by a guest singer performance and singing contest at 2 PM, and events such as a corn husking speed contest and boiled corn eating contest.

During the event on the 24th and 25th, family-friendly experience programs featuring traditional snacks with corn, whole charcoal barbecue, pizza, and Makgeolli (Gaju) making will be held, and the Seomseom Yeosu Corn Exhibition Hall will also be operated.

Additionally, at the processed product sales area using corn, such as corn syrup and corn cream bread, visitors can enjoy corn in various ways. There will also be a sales area for local agricultural specialties including Gat Kimchi, Ssuk Tteok (mugwort rice cake), rice, flower syrup, Dongbaek Bongtteok, tofu snacks, pumpkin, potato, and onion.

Yeosu City plans to minimize inconvenience to visitors by organizing task forces in areas such as traffic, parking, medical services, safety, and cleanliness to ensure smooth event operation.

A city official said, "This festival is expected to widely promote 'Seomseom Yeosu Corn,' enhance brand awareness, and contribute to increasing farmers' income through market promotion. We have prepared programs that satisfy all five senses, so we hope many citizens and tourists will participate."
