Seoul City, Police, Education Office, and Drug Eradication Movement Headquarters Sign Business Agreement for a 'Drug-Free Healthy City'
On the 19th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters signed a business agreement at Seoul City Hall to block the misuse of narcotics and create a drug-free healthy city.
These related organizations have continuously collaborated to jointly promote a "Comprehensive Plan for Prevention and Management of Narcotics" so that youth can live safely and healthily, in response to the recent increase in new drug crimes targeting adolescents, which has spread as a social problem.
Through this business agreement, the four related organizations will share and collaboratively promote inspection, treatment, and rehabilitation support systems to prevent narcotics crimes and misuse and support the social reintegration of drug addicts, while further strengthening the policy implementation system for narcotics response.
First, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will promote projects for prevention and response at all stages of narcotics, including prevention of drug use through education and publicity, support for healthy social reintegration through drug testing and treatment and rehabilitation of addicts, and crackdowns and inspections to block the inflow of drugs into citizens' daily lives.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to comprehensively promote drug misuse prevention education within schools, support drug prevention education for faculty and parents, and collaboratively promote drug prevention education for out-of-school youth.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will actively connect with the Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters or specialized hospitals for narcotics crackdowns and inspections, and treatment and counseling for drug offenders including youth, conduct drug prevention education for youth through School Police Officers (SPO), and guide and manage youth drug offenders.
Lastly, the Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters will strengthen the capabilities of narcotics prevention education instructors, promote rehabilitation programs for drug addicts, and collaboratively promote narcotics prevention, publicity, and campaigns.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has launched a joint response task force to eradicate narcotics crimes and is making all-out efforts, having arrested 378 drug offenders and detained 87 of them, conducting strong crackdowns and investigations.
