S-OIL Conducts Underwater Cleanup Activities at Bangeojin Port in Collaboration with Public, Private, and Civic Groups

On the morning of the 17th, S-OIL conducted a coastal underwater waste collection and cleanup activity at Bangojin Port in Dong-gu, Ulsan, through a collaboration between the public, private, and civic sectors.
S-OIL conducted an underwater cleanup activity attended by over 100 people from the public, private, and organizational sectors, including the Ulsan Coast Guard, the Ulsan branch of the Korea Maritime Rescue Association, and S-OIL volunteers.

Before the underwater cleanup, the Ulsan Coast Guard provided safety training for divers and conducted marine pollution prevention education for volunteers and honorary marine monitors attending the event. Participants collected coastal underwater waste such as discarded materials and fishing gear, as well as shoreline trash, over a period of three hours.

In May, S-OIL donated 50 million KRW to the Korea Maritime Rescue Association to support the underwater cleanup activities along the Ulsan coast. The 50 million KRW project fund provided by S-OIL is being used to support diver personnel and operate equipment for underwater cleanup activities.
An S-OIL official stated, “Starting this year, we plan to conduct five underwater waste and sediment collection projects along the Ulsan coastal areas, including Gangyang Port, Onsan Port, and Jujeon Port, with direct participation from our employees in cooperation with marine-related organizations in the Ulsan region.” He added, “Through these underwater cleanup activities, we aim to improve the marine ecosystem and environment in the Ulsan area and practice ESG management.”
