Busan Port Authority, Recruiting Organizations to Operate 'BPA Hope Storage'
Busan Port Authority (BPA) is recruiting operating organizations for the sharing refrigerator "BPA Hope Pantry," which shares food ingredients and affection among neighbors, until the 30th of this month.
"BPA Hope Pantry" is a food sharing project where residents and others donate food ingredients to sharing refrigerators installed throughout the areas near the port by the labor and management of Busan Port Authority, and vulnerable households in need can take the food free of charge.
The project was selected as a platform that provides practical help to neighbors in welfare blind spots through a public coexistence solidarity fund contest last August, receiving project funding.
Since the opening of the first location on April 13, up to the seventh location has been established and is operating. An analysis of about a month of operation results showed that 942 vulnerable households benefited.

The operating organizations of locations 1 to 7 have also created jobs for vulnerable groups by employing self-support workers and local seniors as "pantry keepers."
BPA plans to expand the "BPA Hope Pantry" to up to 20 locations, mainly in areas near the port, to promote a culture of sharing where the local community takes care of neighbors in need. To this end, BPA is recruiting operating organizations for the BPA Hope Pantry targeting local government administrative welfare centers or social welfare centers.
