Oriental Medicine Hospital Closed After Receiving Tens of Billions in Medical Fees... Police Investigation
A Korean medicine hospital located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, abruptly closed after receiving tens of billions of won in advance payments for medical fees, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 14th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they had booked the director of Hospital A and other related personnel on charges of fraud and violation of the Medical Service Act.
The hospital officials are suspected of concealing the fact that the hospital’s operations were about to cease and selling high-priced package medical programs to patients. They received money through advance payments and then closed the hospital. The amount of damage is estimated to be between 2 to 3 billion won, with around 100 victims reported.
The police have imposed travel bans on some of the suspects and conducted a search and seizure at Hospital A on the 12th. It is reported that they secured patient lists and other documents through the search.
