This is a warm-up for Kim Hyo-joo ahead of the major tournament.
Kim Hyo-joo will compete in the LPGA Tour's Meijer Classic (total prize money $2.5 million, winner's prize $375,000), which kicks off on the 15th (local time) and runs for four days at Blythefield Country Club (par 72, 6,581 yards) in Belmont, Michigan, USA. Since this tournament is held a week before the season's second major, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, Kim plans to maximize her shot form.

View original imageKim Hyo-joo, who debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2015, is a strong player with five career wins including one major. She has played in seven tournaments this year and finished in the top 10 four times but has yet to secure a victory. Kim finished tied for third at the KLPGA Tour Lotte Open on the 4th and achieved her best result of the season with a runner-up finish at last week's ShopRite Classic. She has also risen to 7th in the world rankings. Kim said, "My condition is good," and added, "I want to maintain this good feeling until next week’s major and perform well."
World No. 3 Lydia Ko (New Zealand) and No. 5 Minjee Lee (Australia) are competing for the title. Past champions including Lexi Thompson (USA) in 2015, Kim Se-young in 2016, Yoo So-yeon in 2018, and Brooke Henderson (Canada) in 2017 and 2019 have joined the field. Ashley Buhai (South Africa), the winner of the ShopRite Classic, is aiming for back-to-back victories.
