China Protests US Iran Missile Sanctions as "Violation of Rights"
China has protested against the United States' sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals related to Iran's hypersonic missile development, calling it an infringement on legitimate rights and interests.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated on the ministry's website on the 12th local time, in response to a reporter's question about the US sanctions, "China opposes the US imposing sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals on the grounds of alleged connections with Iran."
The spokesperson pointed out, "The US approach lacks factual basis and due process, and infringes upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and individuals," adding, "The US should stop its unreasonable pressure on Chinese companies and individuals."
He further emphasized, "China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and individuals through necessary measures."
Earlier, on the 6th of this month, the US announced sanctions against a procurement network consisting of seven individuals and six companies that supported the activities of the Iranian Ministry of Defense and others, describing them as key actors in the development of Iran's ballistic missile program. The sanctions targeted companies and individuals from Iran, China, and Hong Kong.
