The screening items include blood tests (glycated hemoglobin, BUN/Cr, etc.), 10 types of urine tests, and ophthalmologic examinations (fundus examination, intraocular pressure, slit-lamp microscopy).
The screening targets were primarily selected from low-income diabetes patients registered at the health center, including those whose condition is not well managed despite regular treatment. However, those who received complication test support in 2022 are excluded from the screening.
Diabetes is a disease in which the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the produced insulin does not work effectively, causing blood sugar levels to rise above normal. Without proper management, it can lead to serious complications such as retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy, making regular medical checkups and lifestyle improvements essential.
Additionally, to prevent complications and detect them early, complication tests should be conducted 1 to 2 times a year.
