Changwon Seongsan Fire Station Operates 119 Heatwave Ambulance Team to Prepare for Heat-Related Illness Patients
Seongsan Fire Station in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, will operate the 119 Heatwave Ambulance until September 30 to prepare for the occurrence of heat-related illnesses due to the heatwave.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the average temperature this summer is expected to be slightly higher than before, and the start of the heatwave is also trending earlier, so accidents caused by heat such as heatstroke are expected to occur frequently.
Accordingly, the fire station has designated five ambulances and five reserve pump ambulances as the 119 Heatwave Ambulance for heatwave response, and has prepared nine types of heat-related illness response supplies (ice packs, cooling vests, saline solution, etc.) and five types of infection protection equipment (protective suits, masks, etc.) to ensure a prompt response system.
If someone nearby suffers from a heat-related illness, move them to a shaded area or apply ice to their body to quickly lower their body temperature, and if they are conscious, have them drink cold water or an ion beverage.
In particular, if symptoms such as vomiting, high fever, or mental confusion appear, immediately call 119 to receive appropriate emergency treatment.
