Garden Expo '2023 Mokjae Munhwa Festival' Held
On the 10th-11th, a 2-day event at Suncheonman Garden Market

The 2023 Wood Culture Festival, aimed at raising public awareness of carbon neutrality through wood utilization in the era of climate change crisis and promoting the excellence of wood to expand and revitalize its use in daily life, will be held for two days from the 10th to the 11th near the Suncheon Bay Garden Market at the Suncheonman International Garden Expo site.
Marking its 11th year, the Wood Culture Festival (hosted by the Korea Forest Service, Jeollanam-do, and Suncheon City) is part of the Korea Forest Service’s ‘I LOVE WOOD’ campaign and will be held under the theme “Practicing Carbon Neutrality through Wood Use in Daily Life.”
This year’s Wood Culture Festival will feature ▲Wood Wedding Ceremony ▲Ttukttakttuk Wood King Contest ▲Dad’s Table ▲Four types of wood experience programs, along with various other events such as the opening ceremony and Wood Market, providing new attractions for visitors to the expo over the weekend.
The Wood Wedding Ceremony IN Suncheon, held on Saturday the 10th, is an event originating from the Western custom where couples exchange wooden gifts to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary. Five couples will be selected through applications to participate. Participating couples will receive a 1-night, 2-day wood wedding trip accommodation voucher, outdoor snapshot photography at the expo site, and rental of custom wood-material dresses.
On Sunday the 11th, “Dad’s Table” will feature Chef Oh Se-deuk, who is currently hosting several cooking programs such as Paldo Sanghoe and Cook King: Birth of a Cooking King. He will personally participate in a cooking contest where 20 dads will use domestic wood cooking utensils and local specialties.
The Suncheonman International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman No Gwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon) stated, “It is meaningful to hold the Wood Culture Festival in Suncheon, which aims to realize a carbon-neutral city through the Green Carbon Garden,” and added, “We hope this event will serve as an opportunity to activate wood culture in daily life and practice carbon neutrality.”
